Dance Blanket

About this object

Narrative

This dance robe was made by Reid for Tanu Lusignan, the son of his adopted son, Raymond Stevens. It was meant to be for Tanu's graduation in 1993 but wasn't finished in time so Tanu wore Reid's dance robe. It was stored at the Haida Gwaii Museum until 2008, when it was worn by Tanu for his election to the Skidegate Band Council. In 2014 he decided to sell it at auction, which is when McConnell purchased it. Tanu included a letter with the blanket, outlining its provenance.
