Wixáritari yarn painting. Modern yarn compositions developed from a traditional form, nieli'ka. Yarn paintings have been popularized in recent decades by the tourist market.
Physical description
Yarn painting. Square wood board has coloured yarn pressed into beeswax on one side to create an image. At centre, a representation of the sun god Tawexikia. Above, in each corners, the sacrifice of two bulls. Bottom centre, a large peyote cactus. Concentric squares border the image in four shades of blue. On reverse, Spanish text written in pen.
