This tiny string puppet (傀儡 kui lei) would have been made as a toy for children, likely in the late 19th-early 20th century.

Physical description

Female puppet in standing position and dressed in traditional stage costumes: Puppet is wearing a thigh-length purple tunic with a multicoloured floral print, and off white and pink damask patterned pants. It has a Y-shaped bamboo control rod that is attached to its wrists and head by white string.
