Narrative

Collected in Peru before the 1970s by Ina VanStan, a Professor of Textiles and Clothing at the Florida State College for Women (Florida State University) from the 1940s to c. 1966. VanStan later gifted her collection to the donor. A large amount of the donation was used for teaching at the University of Alberta while others were mainly small study fragments.

Specific techniques

Cradle done in plain weave and has stitched edging.

Physical description

Fragment of a sling. Cradle is light brown and has a central split. Edges of cradle are dark brown. Stitches for border clearly visible and move inward, towards the split. Right handle is a thick light and dark brown braid. Has repeating diamond pattern. End of handle is a tight dark brown braid. Left handle is missing.
