Physical description

Black-figure lekythos with single handle and orange-red ground. The jug is made with very fine-grained clay with fine gold mica, polished with red wash and painted with thick lustrous black paint. The tall ovoid body narrows towards the bottom and sits on a low ring black base and a short pedestal. The shoulders slope in sharply to a low narrow neck and a trumpet mouth. The small vertical handle is attached at the neck and shoulder. The rim, foot and lower portion of the body are solidly black. One scene on the flask is also in black. It depicts a heavily-draped Dionysos dancing between two draped maenads. There are two cordons crosses between the figures. There is a palmette on the shoulder.
