Identified as a butter dish by basket makers from Mount Currie.
Narrative
Mount Currie basket makers noted that this basket was made with a Mount Currie weave and design.
Physical description
Part (a) is covered dish-shaped coiled basket work (bifurcated stitches), watch-spring construction base and a rounded lid with knob, part (b). Imbricated arrow-like design on upper lip and lower body in alternating rows of black cherry bark and red cherry bark, and cat-tail grass? Similar design on domed lid but doubled, and some beading of both red and dark cherry on knob.
