Mask

Commissioned by the museum from Japanese mask-maker Iwamoto, Chikuzan, in 1984.

Kagura mask; represents Uba (old woman).

Mask made from paper mache depicting an elderly person with wrinkles. The mask is painted light orange-pink with white hair, red lips, black teeth, eyes outlined in black. Orange and blue shading has been used to emphasize the wrinkles.
