History of use

In the 14th century the kilns at Sawankhalok experienced a great expansion in pottery production, partially due to the influence of Chinese potters coming into the region. Jars were just one type of their wares frequently exported throughout Southeast Asia.

Physical description

Jar with slightly rough brown-green glaze that stops just before the foot, rounded sides with vertical,elongated, indented areas emerging from the neck and base. The jar has a short foot and neck, with a slight lip at the mouth.
