Collector's notes said: Muslim gravemarker from Bongao Island in the Sulu Archipelago, the boat form base in Naga motif, and an upright (sundok) denoting a female.
Physical description
Wooden grave marker. The reddish wood is carved into a boat. The body of the boat (part a) is solid wood, except for a square hole in the centre in which the mast (part b) sits. Both ends of the boat have carved scroll-like detail extending past the body, more so at the back than the front. The mast is also carved with a circle, scroll and flower-like designs, ending in a large uncarved point.
