Kalestewa, Quanita (1932 - )

Quanita Kalestewa, Nellie Bica’s daughter, makes pottery owls. While her owls are somewhat different, they incorporate the important and distinct attributes of her mother’s pottery owls. The passing on of distinct pottery styles is an important hallmark of Pueblo art. Families have used these distinct styles for generations. One example is the Bica-Kalestewa family from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. (See related people.)
