Akibe, Imakichi (1922 - 2012)

Akibe Imakichi (秋辺今吉, 1922–2012) was an Ainu artist and educator from Akan, Hokkaidō. He was an important figure in the establishment of the Lake Akan Ainu Kotan (settlement). He taught the Ainu language as an instructor and was involved with the Akan Yukar Theatre. He played a leading role in promoting Ainu culture through his performance, art and education.
