Biography

Constance Effie Ward was born in Kent, England; the family emigrated to Canada when she was six, to Red Deer, AB. In 1912 they moved to Comox, BC. She trained to be a teacher and then a missionary, and went to China in 1918. In 1926 she was in Chengtu. In 1936 she and her sister met in China and took an 8 month trip around the world. In 1950 she was in Chongqing, where she was taken as a prisoner by the Communist Party. In 1951 she returned to Canada.
