Clappis, Annie (1922 - 2006)

Nuu-chah-nulth basket maker. Clappis (nee Williams) was born at Chap-is (Dodger Cove, B.C.). She grew up at Sarita River, and was taught basketry by her mother, May Williams; her father was Dan Williams. She attended the Alberni Indian Residential School, yet remained fluent in her Nuu-chah-nulth language.
