Sound, Bond (1885 - 1964)

Arthur David Bondsound (listed in the MOA records as B. Sound). His real name may have been Yeḵutła̱las?; he was from the Kwikwasut'inuxw (Gilford Island) tribe. His father may also have been known as Bond Sound? His mother was Gwadaxa Bondsound. The family was from Hada (Bond Sound), which is where the English name came from. Bondsound's wife was Tłapa̱lasugwi'lakw Jenny (nee McDougall) from the Mamalilikala (Village Island) tribe, but he is thought to have had several wives (there is a marriage record in the BC Archives saying someone named Bond Sound married Emma Seaweed in Alert Bay in 1920). Bondsound was also a carver.
