History of use
Basketry filled a vital need as containers for storage domestic use and transportation of goods. Some had multiple uses; others were made for specific functions. After European contact, used for trade and sale items. Forms have been altered to meet European tastes. Basketry making was and is a women's art.

Specific techniques
Walls and rim of 2 ply z-twist twining. A narrow band of alternating natural and dyed spruce root wefts are incorporated into the wall of the basket, termed strawberry weave. Rim secured with a single row of 3 ply s-twist plain twining.
Physical description
Plain twined, round, flat rimmed, shallow basket. Base has warps radiating from two central points and is decorated with centre oval in blue twining surrounded by plain twining in alternating blue and medium brown wefts, four rows diagonal and five rows of vertical bands of medium brown plain twining, remainder in light brown. Walls in plain twining alternating blue and light brown wefts, top portion has alternating short rows of angled solid blue and light brown with outside edge in plain twining alternating wefts in medium and light brown. Edge of rim is three-ply twining with warps cut off.
