Physical description
Byzantine coin of Phocas, 602-610. Obverse: bust of Phocas, facing front, with consular robes and crown with cross; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds a cross; to left, inscription says ÔÇÿFOCAÔÇÖ; to right, ÔÇÿSPERPÔÇÖ. Reverse: large ÔÇÿXXÔÇÖ with a pellet between them and a pellet beneath each; to left, star; to right, ÔÇÿEÔÇÖ; above, cross; in exergue, ÔÇÿKRT¤ÜÔÇÖ.
